世界のムスリムたちにロシアとの戦いを呼びかけるウクライナのイスラム聖職者

　ロシア軍がウクライナの首都キエフの１５キロのところに迫っていると報じられている。そんな中、ウクライナのイスラムの最高指導者の一人であるシェイフ・サイード・イスマヒロウ師（名前の表記はウクライナのメディア「UKRINFORM」による）は戦闘服に身を包みロシア軍と戦う覚悟で、ロシア軍に対する「聖戦」を世界のムスリムたちに対して呼びかけている。イスラムの人々はアラビア語で表現する『カラーマ（尊厳）』を大事にする。ウクライナの人々の尊厳を踏みにじるロシアの侵攻に対しては、イスラムだけではなく、正教会の指導者たちからも戦うことが呼びかけられるようになった。

　イスマヒロウ師のフェイスブック・ページには、彼がキエフの国土防衛隊の仲間たちといっしょに収まっている画像がある。https://www.facebook.com/said.ismagilov　見るからに温厚で、学識を積んだ宗教指導者といった感じだ。彼はウクライナ東部のドネツク出身のテュルク系のタタール人だ。「ロシア軍はウクライナ人を殺害し、ウクライナ国家、ウクライナ人の自由を破壊しようとしている」と述べ、世界のムスリムたちにウクライナの側に立って戦うことを呼びかけた。イスマヒロウ師によれば、ウクライナのムスリムには信仰の自由があるが、ロシアはその自由まで奪おうとしている。

　ロシアは、２０１４年以来クリミア半島を占領し、ムスリムのタタール人たちをその支配下に置き、その後ドネツクなどウクライナ東部ではロシアが支援する分離主義者たちがウクライナ中央と戦っているとイスマヒロウ師は訴えている。ウクライナのムスリム人口は、ざっと１００万人、そのほとんどがスターリンの強制移住政策などで抑圧されてきたタタール人たちだ。

本当のジハードとは？

　アラビア語で聖戦を意味するのは「ジハード」という言葉だが、「ジハード」とはアラビア語の動詞「ジャハダ」から派生した言葉で、その動詞は本来「信仰の道において奮闘努力する」の意味である。ジハードの意味するところは多様で、イスラムでは異教徒との戦いを「小ジハード」と呼び、自分自身の欲望と戦うことを「大ジハード」と形容し、内面の努力をより高く評価する。イスラムでは、貧しい人々に対する寄付である喜捨や救貧活動もジハードに含まれる。イスマヒロウ師のジハードはこの規定では「小ジハード」ということになるが、イスラムの宗教の根幹にあるのは「正義」の概念であり、「正義」「公正」というイスラムという根本概念からも人々の安寧を壊し、女子供を殺害するロシアの侵攻は断じて許せるものではない。

Russian troops are reported to be approaching 15 kilometers from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Meanwhile, one of Ukraine’s Supreme Leaders of Islam, Mufti Said Ismagilov is prepared to fight the Russian army in combat uniforms against the Russian army. He is calling for “holy war” to Muslims around the world. Islamic people value the Arabic expression “karama (dignity)”. Not only Islam but also Orthodox leaders have called for a fight against the Russian invasion that tramples on the dignity of the Ukrainians.

He looks like a gentle and well-educated religious leader. He is a Turkic Tatar from Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. “Russian troops are trying to kill Ukrainians and destroy the Ukrainian state, the freedom of Ukrainians,” he called on Muslims around the world to fight on the side of Ukraine. According to Rev. Ismagilov, Ukrainian Muslims have freedom of religion, but Russia is trying to take that freedom.

What is real meaning of “Jihad”?

Ismagilov is saying that Russia has occupied the Crimean Peninsula since 2014, putting Muslim Tatars under its control, and then in eastern Ukraine, such as Donetsk, Russia-backed separatists are fighting against central authority of  Ukraine.  Ukraine’s Muslim population is roughly one million, most of whom are Tatars who have been suppressed by Stalin’s forced migration policy.

The Arabic word for holy war is “jihad,” but “jihad” is a derivative of the Arabic verb “jahada,” which originally means “strive in the path of faith.” be. The meaning of jihad is diverse. In Islam, fighting against heathens is called “small jihad”, and fighting one’s own desires is called “large jihad”, and the inner efforts are highly valued. In Islam, jihad also includes donations to the poor, such as charity and poverty relief. Jihad of Rev. Ismagilov is called “small jihad” in this regulation, but the basis of Islamic religion is the concept of “justice”, and Russia’s invasion, which destroys peace and kills girls and children, is absolutely unforgivable and unjust act.
