フランシスコ法王の軍産複合体批判とイスラム諸国同士の戦争
１７日、アブダビがイエメンのフーシ派によるドローン攻撃を受け、３人が死亡した。それに対してサウジアラビアが主導する有志連合軍がイエメン各地を空爆して少なくとも２０人が死亡した。サウジアラビアや、アブダビがあるＵＡＥは２０１５年３月以来、イエメンを空爆して、イランが支援しているとされるフーシ派（Houthi）の軍事的制圧を目指しているが、１７日のドローン攻撃はその報復だ。イスラムでは人殺しを禁じており、イスラムの聖地を抱え、イスラム世界の盟主を自任するサウジアラビアは理性的にふるまったほうがいい。
コロナ禍の世界には医療とは真逆の人を殺害する手段である武器の売却で利益を上げようとする動きもある。米国のボーイング社は、コロナ禍で航空会社の経営が苦しくなり、旅客機の売却が多く望めない中で、５月中旬にサウジアラビアとの２６億ドル（２８００億円近く）相当のミサイル売却契約を獲得した。内容は、６５０発のSLAM ER 空対地ミサイルと、４０２発のHarpoon Block II対艦ミサイルだ。空対地ミサイルは、イエメンのフーシ派への攻撃に用いるのだろうが、サウジアラビアが対艦ミサイルを用いる局面はあまり想定されず、イランなどへの抑止目的なのだろう。
アメリカやイギリスはサウジアラビアやＵＡＥに対する武器売却を行い、イエメンでの紛争をいっそう悲惨なものにしてきた。２０１４年に始まったイエメン戦争での死者は４０万人、サウジアラビア主導の空爆による市民の死者は１、２０００人に上るとも見られている。内戦で医療が崩壊しているイエメンはコロナウイルスの感染による致死率は世界で最も高い国の一つとされている。
フランシスコ教皇は、２０１５年９月米議会で演説してサウジアラビアに武器売却を行う米国の軍需産業を念頭に、
「対話と平和のために働くことは、世界中の武力紛争を鎮め、最終的に終わらせるために真に尽くすことでもあります。ここでわたしたちは、自らに問わなければなりません。個人や社会に計り知れないほどの苦しみを与えることを計画している人々に、なぜ凶悪な武器を売り続けているのでしょうか。残念ながら、皆さんもご存じのように、単にお金をもうけるためです。血にまみれたお金です。多くの場合、その血は無実の血です。この恥ずべき、そして非難に値する沈黙の中でこの問題に立ち向かい、武器売買を止めさせることは、わたしたちの責務です。」と語った。
フランシスコ教皇は、サウジアラビアがイエメンの人道危機をもたらしている無差別爆撃を停止するまでアメリカはまず手始めにサウジアラビアに対する武器の供給を、停止しなければならないと述べた。ローマ教皇の訴えに耳を貸さなければならないのは、アメリカの軍産複合体とともに、イスラム諸国の指導者たちであり、人殺しを禁ずるイスラムの教義に従い、真のムスリムになるためにも、異教の指導者であるローマ教皇の訴えに従わなければならない。

Pope Francis criticizes the military-industrial complex, and wars between Islamic countries
On the 17th, Abu Dhabi was attacked by a Yemeni Houthis drone, killing three people. In response, Saudi-led coalition forces bombed Yemen and killed at least 20 people. The UAE, where Abu Dhabi are located, and Saudi Arabia have been bombing Yemen since March 2015, aiming for military control of the Houthi, which is allegedly supported by Iran. Islam prohibits murder, and Saudi Arabia, which has an Islamic sanctuaries and is a self-appointed leader of the Islamic world, should act rationally.

Pope Francis addressed at the US Congress, implicitly with the American military-industrial complex in mind, he said:
Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the arms trade.
The recognition that arms sales can result in the spilling of “innocent blood” for profit is a far cry from the cover stories so often used to justify multi-billion-dollar arms deals — that they promote “stability” and are only for “defensive purposes.” As the country that reaps the most money from the international arms trade, the United States bears a responsibility to take the leadership in curbing weapons trading around the world. A good start would be to cut off U.S. supplies to Saudi Arabia until they stop engaging in indiscriminate bombing in Yemen, which has caused a humanitarian catastrophe of the highest order.
Pope Francis said the United States must first stop supplying weapons to Saudi Arabia until Saudi Arabia stops the indiscriminate bombing that is causing the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. It is the leaders of Islamic countries, along with the military-industrial complex of the United States, who must listen to the Pope’s appeal. The leaders of the Islamic countries that bomb Yemen must obey the Islamic doctrine that prohibits murder and follow the appeal of the pagan leader, the Pope, in order to become a true Muslim.
