愛国心とは、その最も簡単明瞭で疑いのない意味では、支配者にとっては、権力欲からくる貪欲な目的を達成する道具にほかならない。

また、支配されている国民にとっては、人間の尊厳や理性、良心を捨ててしまうことであり、権力者への奴隷的服従にほかならない。

力による現状変更は認められない

　１６日、日英の電話による首脳会談で岸田首相とジョンソン首相はウクライナ危機について力による現状変更は認められないことで一致した。プーチン大統領は軍事的圧力を強め、西側から何らかの譲歩を引き出したいのだろうが、武力による国境線の変更は言うまでもなく国際法違反であり、彼は２０１４年のクリミア半島併合ですでに行っている。

日本の北方領土問題でも愛国心を操作

　２０１９年１月１４日にモスクワで行われた日ロ外相会談で、ロシアのラブロフ露外相は「（日本が）第２次世界大戦の結果を認めることがなければ、ほかの問題へ前進するのは困難だ」「日本の法律での『北方領土』との呼称は受け入れられない」と述べた。２０１８年１１月に行われたロシアの民間調査機関の世論調査では、経済協力の見返りに北方領土を返還すべきか、という問いに７４％が反対した。（日経新聞）

　ロシアは、北方領土問題についても、国民の愛国心を操作しながらいかに政府への求心力を高めるかに腐心しているように見える。

ロシアの地政学的野心

　ロシアは、１７６８年から７４年のロシアとオスマン帝国の戦争後、ロシアは南方への進出に強い関心をもつようになり、クリミア・ハーン国を１７８４年に征服、１８５９年にチェチェンを自国の領土にし、また１９０７年には英露協商が成立して、イラン、アフガニスタン、チベットにおける両国の勢力範囲が調整された。ロシアは不凍港を求めて南下政策を続けていたので、地中海に至る経路ともいえる位置にあるバルカン半島でのスラブ系民族との連帯は都合のよいものに映り、このパン＝スラブ主義はロシアの政策決定者たちを奮い立たせ、セルビアへの思い入れからオーストリアとの敵対が明確になり、結局第一次世界大戦の大惨禍を招いた。

　時代は下り、ソ連時代にアフガニスタンに侵攻し、人民民主党（共産党）政権を支えようとしたり、また２０１５年９月にシリアへの軍事介入を開始し、中東地域で継続的に勢力圏を維持、拡大しようとしたりしている。国際法に違反して、パレスチナのヨルダン川西岸に入植を進めるのもロシアから移住してきたユダヤ人たちが多い。

日本国民も愛国心の奴隷になってはならない

歴史的に、伝統的に領土に絶対的な信を置くロシアにいかに対峙していくか、拙速に功を焦って安易な妥協をせず、ロシアの国内政治の流れを読むことだ。そして、日本国民も愛国心の奴隷となってはならない。

Patriotism , as a feeling of exclusive love for one’s own people, and as a doctrine of tile virtue of sacrificing one’s tranquillity, one’s property, and ever, one’s life, in defence of one’s own people from slaughter and outrage by their enemies, was the highest idea of the period when each nation considered it feasible and just, for its own advantage, to subject to slaughter and outrage the people of other nations.

No change in status quo by force

At a summit meeting between Japan and the United Kingdom on the 16th, Prime Minister Kishida and Prime Minister Johnson agreed that the Ukrainian crisis would not be allowed to change the status quo by force. President Putin may want to increase military pressure and draw some concessions from the West, but it is a violation of international law, not to mention the change of borders by force, which he has already done in the 2014 annexation of the Crimean Peninsula.

Manipulate patriotism in Japan’s Northern Territories issue

At the Japan-Russia Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in Moscow on January 14, 2019, Russian Foreign Minister Sergeĭ Lavrov said, “If Japan does not acknowledge the outcome of World War II, it is difficult to move on to other issues. The name ‘Northern Territory’ in Japanese law is unacceptable.” In a poll conducted by a Russian private research institute in November 2018, 74% opposed the question of whether the northern territory should be returned in return for economic cooperation. Russia seems to be enthusiastic about how to increase the centripetal force of the government while manipulating the patriotism of the people regarding the Northern Territories issue.

Russian geopolitical ambition

After the war between Russia and the Ottoman Empire from 1768 to 1774, Russia became keenly interested in expanding to the south, conquering Crimea Khanate in 1784 and Chechen in 1859 as its territory. In 1907, the Anglo-Russian Entente was established, and the range of power of both countries in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tibet was adjusted. As Russia continued its southward policy in search of an ice-free port, solidarity with the Slavic peoples on the Balkan Peninsula, which can be said to be the route to the Mediterranean Sea, seems to be convenient, and this Pan-Slavic principle was Russia’s policy. Inspiring the decision makers, their love for Serbia revealed their hostility to Austria, which eventually led to the devastation of World War I.

The era went down, invading Afghanistan during the Soviet era, trying to support the People’s Democratic Party (Communist Party) government, and starting military intervention in Syria in September 2015, maintaining or expanding the sphere of influence continuously in the Middle East region. Many Jews who have immigrated from Russia are also trying to settle in the West Bank of the Jordan River in Palestine in violation of international law.

Japanese not be slaves to patriotism

It is important to read the flow of Russia’s domestic politics without making quick and easy compromises. Russia historically and traditionally has an absolute belief in territory. And the Japanese people must not be slaves to patriotism.
