No weapons needed for love and tolerance
If the sky is not in love, then it will not be so clear.

The Islamic mystical poet and theologian Jalaluddin Rumi (1207-73) was born in what is now Balkh, northern Afghanistan, and left behind many poems about love and tolerance. Professor Abdullah Rohan, a professor of Rumi in Balkh says people lived well in Balkh in the 1960s, storing food in the summer and eating it in the winter. It is said that people gathered at the mosque and sang Rumi’s song in the winter when they hadn’t had it.
People may have forgotten Rumi because of the war in Afghanistan, the lack of food, and the diminished feelings of love and forgiveness.
People don’t go to war if they’re full.

Needless to say, it is not the weapons that the Soviet Union and the United States had provided to Afghanistan in large quantities, but the device that gives people peace of mind, such as water and food, that fosters feelings of love and tolerance in the Islamic world.

イスラーム神秘主義詩人・神学者のルーミー（１２０７～７３年）は、現在のアフガニスタン北部のバルフで生まれ、愛と寛容に関する多くの詩作を残した。バルフのルーミー研究者のアブドゥッラー・ローハン教授は１９６０年代、バルフでの人々の生活ぶりはよく、夏に食べ物を蓄え、冬にそれを食べた。手持ち無沙汰の冬には人々はモスクに集まり、ルーミーの歌を歌ったと語っている。
人々がルーミーを忘れるようになったのは、アフガニスタンが戦禍で、食料が十分ではなくなり、人々から愛や寛容の感情が希薄になったこともあるだろう。
