世界の平和を力によってではなく、人々が心の中に神の愛を感じ、また自我を否定することによって平和を築こうとするのがスーフィズム（日本ではイスラム神秘主義などとも訳される）である。スーフィズムの根幹にある精神は中庸と寛容（愛）と、日本で信仰される仏教の教えにもひじょうによく似ていて通底するものが大いにある。冒頭の言葉を残したルーミー（１２０７～７３年）は、アフガニスタンのバルフ近郊で生れ、モンゴルの侵攻を逃れて各地を放浪した後にトルコのコンヤに定住したが、ペルシア語で作品を残したために「ペルシア文学最大のイスラム神秘主義詩人」とも形容されている。
スーフィズムは神の愛を強調しながらも人間相互の差異、相違よりも普遍性や一体性を重んじる。神の愛を何よりも重んじるスーフィズムの教団はこのルーミーの言葉とビートルズの楽曲「All You Need Is Love (愛こそはすべて)」との共通性を見る。「All You Need Is Love (愛こそはすべて)」はジョン・レノンが作った楽曲で、ビートルズのベトナム戦争反対の想いが込められている（ウィキ）。イントロにはフランス国家の「ラ・マルセイエーズ」が使われているが、ジョン・レノンにはフランス国歌に表現される好戦的ナショナリズムを皮肉る意図があったのだろう。フランス国歌の歌詞は

ペルシアの詩人ハーフェズ（１３２６頃～９０年頃）にはスーフィズム的抒情詩を世俗的な恋愛の抒情詩に融合させた作品が多い。
すべての愛の錬金術ゆえにわが汚れた貌は金色に輝く。そう汝の祝福の恩寵ゆえに埃も金となる ―ハーフェズ
スペインの詩人ロルカはイランの詩人ハーフェズの影響を受け、中東で生れた短い抒情詩の形態（＝ガザル）の中で愛や恋愛を詠んだが、『ロルカ詩集』（長谷川四郎訳、土曜社）の中に下のような詩があり、ハーフェズの作風やテーマを彷彿させている。

“Love” -a universal language of the world ―Rumi, The Beatles and Garcia Lorca influenced by Iranian poet Hafez
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” -Rumi
It is Sufism (also translated as Islamic mysticism in Japan) that people try to build peace by feeling the love of God in their hearts and denying the ego, not by force. The spirit that underlies Sufism is moderate and forgiving (love), and there are many things that are very similar to the Buddhist teachings that are worshiped in Japan. Rumi (1207-73), who left the opening words, was born near Balkh in Afghanistan and settled in Konya, Turkey after fleeing the invasion of Mongolia and wandering around, and because he left his work in Persian, ” It is also described as “the largest Islamic mystical poet in Persian literature.”
Sufism emphasizes the love of God but values universality and unity over human differences. Some of the Sufism sect, which values God’s love above all else, sees this Rumi’s words in common with the Beatles song “All You Need Is Love.” “All You Need Is Love” is a song written by John Lennon and contains the Beatles’ opposition to the Vietnam War (Wiki). The French state “La Marseillaise” is used in the intro, but John Lennon may have intended to sarcastic the militant nationalism expressed in the French national anthem. The Persian poet Hafez (c. 1326-1990) has many works that fuse Sufist lyric poetry with worldly romance lyric poetry.
My unclean face shines golden because of all the alchemy of love. Yes, because of the grace of God blessing, dust is also gold ―Halfez
The Spanish poet Lorca was influenced by the Iranian poet Hafez and wrote about love and love in a short form of lyric poetry (= Ghazal) born in the Middle East. There is a poem like the one below, which is reminiscent of Hafez’s style and theme.
