７日、国連総会の緊急特別会合は国連人権理事会のロシアの理事国資格停止の決議を採択したが、アメリカの中東の同盟国であるペルシア湾岸のアラブ６カ国は投票を棄権した。サウジアラビアは、バイデン政権になってから関係が良好ではない。バイデン大統領は２０１８年トルコ・イスタンブールでサウジアラビア人のジャマール・カショギ記者が殺害されたことについてサウジアラビアに責任をとらせるという発言をしてきたし、またサウジアラビアによるイエメン空爆についても支援の停止を表明した。
国連人権理事会のロシアの理事国資格停止の決議はアメリカの主導の下に行われた。当然の措置だと思う。ウクライナに侵攻し、ブチャなどで市民の虐殺を行った国が人権理事会の理事国にとどまることはどう考えても矛盾している。しかし、この決議を主導したアメリカも自分の足元を見てほしい。
イラク戦争では５０万人とも６０万人とも見積もられるイラク人が犠牲になり、２００４年１１月のファルージャの戦闘では犠牲になった６００人のイラク市民のうち半数が女性や子供たちであった（ブリタニカ）。
自分の足元を見ず、自省を怠るのは私たち日本人も例外ではない。中村哲医師は、作家・澤地久枝氏との対談である『人は愛するに足り、真心は信ずるに足る』の中で「いま、家内の里の大牟田というところにいますが、あそこには、何百人だか、何千人だか、強制連行で朝鮮人が連れてこられて、何百人も死んでいます。そのことは、もう皆、忘れてるんですね。拉致という行為そのものは国家的犯罪ですから、北朝鮮が悪くないなどとなどとはひと言も言いませんが、それ以上のことを日本はした。・・・自分の身は、針で刺されても飛び上がるけれども、相手の体は槍で突いても平気だという感覚、これがなくならない限り駄目ですね。」と述べている。
このように、日本人はともすると、日本人のことにしか目が向かなくなってしまう「非国際性」があるようだ。同じく中村哲医師の言葉を評論家の斎藤美奈子さんが「週刊朝日」の２０２０年１月３１日号で、中村医師の著書『人は愛するに足り、真心は信ずるに足る』を紹介する中で伝えている。
「インタビューは伊藤和也さんが殺害された直後にも行われた。＜実は、向うでの殉職者は六人目＞だったが、アフガン人職員が殉職した際、日本側は何も言わなかった。引きあげろというが＜現地の人の命はどうなる。殉職した五人の人権はどうなる＞と抗議したかった。＜ほかの国の人の命は考え切れない、その非国際性というのを感じます＞」
欧米は他国の主権を侵害するロシアの行為は許容できないとウクライナに対する軍事支援を行っているが、アメリカのトランプ政権はイスラエルが武力で占領するヨルダン川西岸やゴラン高原にイスラエルの主権を認めた。イスラエルの占領政策と欧米諸国がそれを半ば黙認してきたことがプーチン大統領のウクライナ侵攻のモデルになったのかもしれない。
