「世界大戦」になる？
アメリカのバイデン大統領は、ロシアの侵攻が懸念されるウクライナに滞在するアメリカ人たちに対して「いますぐ退避すべきだ」と述べ、さらに「アメリカとロシアが撃ち合いを始めた場合、世界大戦になる」と語ったが、ロシアがウクライナに侵攻し、ロシアとアメリカが戦う大義がわからない。そんな戦争が世界大戦になって日本まで巻き添えになるのはまっぴらごめんだ。

宮沢賢治の「雨ニモ負ケズ」
それで思い出すのはやはり宮沢賢治の「雨ニモ負ケズ」だ。

賢治を研究するイラン人女性
イラン・テヘラン在住のアスィエ・サベルモガッダムさんは１９９０年に国費留学生の夫と一緒に来日し、日本語や日本文化に関心をもつようになり、イランに帰国後テヘラン大の日本語日本文学科に入学、卒業と同時に日本語科の講師となった。
彼女が特に関心もっているのは宮沢賢治だが、２０１６年６月に来日を計画した際に渡航費３０万円が不足していたのを文教大学の鈴木健司教授が賢治研究用に蓄えていたオパール鉱石をネットオークションで売却することによって工面した。鈴木教授は「宗教、政治、イデオロギー、すべてを相対化して相克した賢治の地球市民的な考え方を、今のイスラム世界で広めることの意義は深い」と考え、サベルさんの支援を思い立った。
ウクライナをめぐって対立するロシアとアメリカの政治指導者たちに「地球市民的な考え」という言葉はよく言い得ることで、そのような視点に立てば対立することはまったく卑小なことに思える。

ペルシアの詩人サーディーは「何よりも重要なのは、後に引けなくなるような対立に至らぬよう、必ず歩み寄りの余地を残しておくこと。暴力的手段に訴えるのではなく、相手に対して寛大さを示すこと。」と説いた。（清水直美「実践道徳」『イランを知るための６５章』明石書店）サーディーの考えは、ウクライナをめぐって対立するロシアのプーチン大統領、アメリカのバイデン大統領が最も傾聴すべきものだ。
Will it be “World War”?

Iranian female studying Kenji
Asieh Saber Moghaddam, who lives in Teheran, Iran, came to Japan in 1990 with the husband of a government-sponsored international student and became interested in Japanese language and culture. Entered the literature department and became a Japanese language instructor upon graduation.
She is particularly interested in Kenji Miyazawa, but when she planned to visit Japan in June of 2016, there was no travel expense of 300,000 yen. So, Professor Kenji Suzuki of Bunkyo University sold his opal by internet auction which he had saved for Kenji’s research and provided the money to her. Professor Suzuki thought, “It is significant to spread Kenji’s idea of “global citizenship,” which relativizes and conflicts with religion, politics, and ideology, in the current Islamic world,” and thought of Mr. Saber’s support.
It is easy to say “global citizenship” to Russia and the United States, which are in conflict over Ukraine and from that point of view, conflict seems quite vulgar.

Persian poet Saʿdī-ye Shīrāzī said, “The most important thing is to leave room for compromise so that you don’t end up in a conflict that can’t be pulled back. Show generosity to the other person, not to resort to violent means. ” (Naomi Shimizu “Practical Morality” “Chapter 65 for Knowing Iran” Akashi Shoten) Saʿdī-y’s ideas should be listened to by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden, who are in conflict over Ukraine.
